Chocolate Cookies

Short Story

I made this cookie on a day when I was craving something sweet but didn’t want to make a whole batch. I just wanted one warm, soft cookie. Nothing extra.
What I love about this recipe is how quick it is. A few ingredients, a small bowl, and it’s ready before you even have time to think too much.
It’s the kind of tiny treat that feels comforting and easy, especially on days when you want something warm without putting in too much effort.

Ingredients (1 cookie) :

  • 1 tbsp melted butter

  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp milk (add a few drops more if dough feels dry)

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)

  • A pinch of salt (skip if using salted butter)

  • A pinch of baking soda (about 1/16 tsp)

  • 2 tbsp chopped Cadbury Silk (small chunks so they don’t sink)

Instructions:

Make the dough

  • In a small bowl, mix melted butter and powdered sugar until smooth.

  • Add milk and mix.

  • Add flour, salt, and baking soda.

  • Stir into a soft, smooth dough.

Add chocolate

  • Fold in half the chopped Cadbury Silk.

  • Shape into a thick cookie on a lined tray.

  • Press the remaining Silk chunks on top —> This gives gooey chocolate pools after baking.

Bake

  • Bake at 175°C (350°F) for 8–10 minutes.

  • Edges should be set, the center soft.

  • For your oven timing:

  • You baked it 6 minutes →

  • Let it rest 5 minutes inside the oven (heat off) →

  • Then 2–3 minutes outside

  • This gives a perfectly soft center with melty chocolate.

Tips:

  • Don’t overbake — it becomes cakey.

  • Always press extra chocolate chunks on top for the “melty look.”

  • Add a drop more milk if your dough feels crumbly.

  • You can swap Silk for any chocolate you like.
